General Information

The Masters Program in Family Counseling within the Department of Social Work at Başkent University Institute of Social Sciences aims to train competent and well-equipped family counselors who work with families. Within the scope of the program, students acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in areas affecting family life, including couple and family relationships, parenting processes, behavioral problems among children and adolescents, intrafamilial communication, and crisis and conflict situations. They also develop competencies in assessing the problems faced by families from a holistic perspective, planning protective and preventive interventions, and providing effective counseling services. Adopting a scientific and practice-based educational approach that takes Türkiyes social and cultural structure into account, the program seeks to prepare graduates as ethically responsible, professionally competent specialists who possess up-to-date knowledge in the field of family counseling.

Launched in 2025, the Masters Program is delivered by a full-time academic staff consisting of two professors, three associate professors, two assistant professors, and one lecturer holding a doctoral degree.
