Biotechnology is the use of living systems and organisms to develop or make products, or "any technological application that uses biological systems, living organisms, or derivatives thereof, to make or modify products or processes for specific use. Biotechnology is a multidisciplinary field which involves integration of life sciences such as molecular biology, microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, physiology with engineering sciences. In concordance with the multidisciplinary nature of the field, Department of Biotechnology was established in 2017 with contribution and participation of experienced and qualified academic members of the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science and Letters, and Faculty of Education of Baskent University. Our mission is to have graduates with interdisciplinary perspective, who are able to be participate in the international and national pioneer and innovative research groups, and to use their technical background for the needs of the society in application and production. The Department is offering a Master of Science Program with Thesis in Biotechnology aiming to give a graduate level multidisciplinary academic education program with theoretical and practical aspects and provide scientific environment with contribution of qualified academicians. Laboratory practices will be held in the research and application facilities of the Institute of Transplantation and Gene Sciences.
