General Information
The department has a practically intensive education program that is supported with theory. The practical lessons that will enhance the student's competence are supported with the theoretical classes that will empower their social, economical and political sensitivity, their imagining, storytelling, problem solving abilities and their liberal culture and consciousness of cinema. Thus, besides student's technical abilities, developing their creativeness, critical thinking and view and gaining the competence of visual literacy are among the aims.
According to the interdisciplinary view of the department and the requirements of the field, the filmmaking department cares about creating collaborative student projects with the contribution of other departments of the faculty and supports this educational model. The students of filmmaking department can benefit from the opportunities of double major, minor and Erasmus that Başkent University offers.
The department aims its students to gain experience by bringing the educational process and practice together and with its academic staff, practical workshops and studios. The panels, workshops and similar events leaded by national and international professionals of cinema make the young filmmakers acquainted with the cinema industry. With practical works they have, students can get into festivals and can be awarded in various competitions.
