LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) 1. Define the ways that sociological theorists have conceptualized social structures and processes of social change.
2) 2. Explain the social structure and change using the different theories reviewed
3) 3. Apply the appropriate explanations to historical and contemporary social structure and change.
4) 4. Define how social structures have shaped your life and the lives of others you know, as well as how those structures might change (and whether they should).
5) 5. Display familiarity with sociological insights about social structure and change your understanding of important contemporary issues, such as inequality, identity, and conflict.

COURSE DEFINITIONIn this course, the definition of socio-cultural structure, the characteristics of social and cultural change are introduced with a theoretical and historical perspective, and also the topics such as globalization, modernism-postmodernism, economic, political and cultural change etc. are discussed in the scope of the course. In addition, research examples on social-cultural structure and change, which are considered important in the literature, are examined, so that research methods and techniques related to the subject are taught by examining good practice examples.
